      John de Segrave, the eldest son, died ten years before his father, so Gilbert the second son became heir to the immense property to which he largely added, adding among other matters, the whole town of Kegworth by grant from Simon de Montfort, Earl of Leicester. He was sent in 1253 as Ambassador to France where he lost his life by treachery."
      John died without issue (children).
