    • Thursday, 1 Feb 1810 an obituary for Randolph Seagrove appeared in the Raleigh, North Carolina Star newspaper on page 19, col. 4 that read: "In the year 1799 Mr. Seagrove enlisted as a common soldier, under Capt. Maurice Moore, who entered him as a student in the University, and afterwards aided him in establishing himself in the mercantile business."
